Short version: use our sounds in your own music, release it, sell it, play it live. Don’t share, resell or repackage the sounds themselves.
You get a licence, not ownership
When you buy or download a BigFreq product, the contents are licensed to you, not sold. Ownership stays with BIGFREQ Audio, the licensor.
Your licence is:
- Non-exclusive. Other producers can license the same sounds.
- For one user. It is personal to you.
- Worldwide, for the full copyright protection period.
- Non-transferable. You can’t pass it on to someone else.
What you can do
- Use the sounds, samples and presets in your own original music.
- Release tracks that contain them on streaming platforms, labels and digital stores.
- Play those tracks at live events, festivals and DJ sets.
- Earn money from your original tracks that use them.
- No credit needed: you don’t have to name BigFreq when our sounds are part of your music.
In short: royalty free, commercial use included.
Client work and collaborators
- You can use our sounds in tracks you make for a client, and the client can release and earn money from the finished track. The client gets the track, not a licence to the raw sounds.
- You can send stems or the project file of a track that uses our sounds to a collaborator, a mix or mastering engineer or a client who works on that track. They can use the sounds only inside that track: they may not keep the raw sounds or reuse them in other work. Anyone who wants to use the sounds in their own music needs their own licence.
What you can’t do
- Copy, lend, resell or redistribute the product or its contents, in whole or in part, as they are (raw sounds, samples, presets).
- Upload our content to sample-sharing websites or forums, or give it to people who don’t hold a licence.
- Sell or license our content as a standalone product.
- Use our content to make a competing sample library or sound product.
- Put the raw sounds on a shared drive, a time-sharing service, a service bureau or a shared computer or sampler network where people without a licence can use them. (Sending stems or a project file of a track to a collaborator is allowed, see Client work and collaborators.)
- Share your login or account access with anyone else.
- Use our sounds, presets or wavetables to train, fine-tune or test an AI model, or put them in a dataset for that purpose.
- Register our sounds as they are (unmodified, on their own or as the main element of a track) with Content ID or any similar audio fingerprinting system. Other producers license the same sounds, and a registration like that would flag their tracks.
Plugins
- One licence is for one user and works on up to 3 activations (computers). This applies to every BigFreq plugin, including BigFuzz and Sonic Vault Basic.
- You can free a computer yourself in your account under Licences.
Free downloads
Free products carry the same licence as paid ones. Everything on this page applies to free packs and free presets, whether you bought them or got them for free.
Template Vault
The templates (business systems, finance spreadsheets, marketing and social media calendars, catalogue and royalty tracking tools, contract templates and other documents) come with a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence for your own music career.
You can:
- Use them for your own music business.
- Customise and change them for your needs.
- Use them in your artist development and business planning.
You can’t:
- Resell, redistribute or share the templates in any form.
- License them to other producers or businesses.
- Claim authorship or ownership of the template designs or frameworks.
- Reverse engineer or extract the methods behind them.
- Use them as the basis for a competing educational product.
The templates remain BigFreq’s intellectual property. The same licence applies however you got the templates: bought on their own or included in a membership.
Do not upload our products to piracy or sharing sites.
Every download link is made for one buyer and one order, and every plugin licence is tied to your account. If our products turn up on a piracy or file-sharing site, we act: we can revoke your licence, cancel your membership and account, and take legal action.
If the licence is broken
Sharing or distributing our content without permission can lead to immediate termination of your membership, loss of vault access and legal action for intellectual property infringement. All rights of the producer and the owner of the work are reserved; copying this content without permission breaks the law.
Liability
Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before your claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing on this page limits any liability that the law does not allow to be limited or excluded.
If our documents differ
If this page and our Terms of Use say different things, this page applies to the licence terms and the Terms of Use apply to everything else.
